Rabeprazole for Injection (Rabilax 20)
Description
Rabilax 20 Injection contains Rabeprazole 20 mg, a potent proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used for rapid suppression of gastric acid secretion. It is ideal for hospital and emergency settings where oral administration is not feasible.
Composition
- Rabeprazole Sodium equivalent to Rabeprazole – 20 mg
- Lyophilized powder for reconstitution (IV use only)
Mechanism of Action
Rabeprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting the gastric proton pump (H⁺/K⁺-ATPase) in parietal cells, effectively blocking the final step of acid production and providing sustained acid suppression.
Indications
Rabilax 20 is indicated for:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
- Peptic ulcer disease (gastric & duodenal ulcers)
- Erosive esophagitis
- Zollinger–Ellison syndrome
- Stress ulcer prophylaxis in critically ill patients
- Upper gastrointestinal bleeding
Dosage & Administration
- Administered via intravenous injection or infusion
- Typical dose: 20 mg once daily or as directed by physician
- Transition to oral therapy when possible
