Description
Smero-1000 Injection contains Meropenem 1000 mg (1 g), a highly potent broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic used in the treatment of severe and life-threatening bacterial infections. It is widely utilized in ICU and hospital settings for its effectiveness against resistant pathogens.
Composition
- Meropenem IP – 1000 mg (1 g)
- Sterile powder for reconstitution (for IM/IV use)
Mechanism of Action
Meropenem works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to rapid bacterial cell death. It remains stable against most beta-lactamases, making it highly effective against multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs).
Indications
Smero-1000 is indicated for:
- Severe respiratory tract infections (including pneumonia)
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Complicated urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Bacterial meningitis
- Septicemia (bloodstream infections)
