Description
Pancare 40 contains Pantoprazole 40 mg, a widely used proton pump inhibitor (PPI) designed for intravenous administration. It is indicated for the short-term treatment of acid-related disorders when oral therapy is not feasible.
Composition
- Pantoprazole Sodium BP equivalent to Pantoprazole – 40 mg
- Sterile powder for reconstitution (IV use)
Mechanism of Action
Pantoprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion and promoting healing of acid-related damage.
Indications
Pancare 40 is used in:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
- Peptic ulcer disease (gastric & duodenal ulcers)
- Erosive esophagitis
- Zollinger–Ellison syndrome
- Prevention and treatment of stress ulcers in critically ill patients
- Upper GI bleeding management
Dosage & Administration
- Administered via intravenous injection or infusion
- Common adult dose: 40 mg once daily (may vary based on condition)
- Switch to oral therapy as soon as clinically appropriate

Precautions
