Description

Pancare 40 contains Pantoprazole 40 mg, a widely used proton pump inhibitor (PPI) designed for intravenous administration. It is indicated for the short-term treatment of acid-related disorders when oral therapy is not feasible.


Composition

  • Pantoprazole Sodium BP equivalent to Pantoprazole – 40 mg
  • Sterile powder for reconstitution (IV use)

Mechanism of Action

Pantoprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion and promoting healing of acid-related damage.


Indications

Pancare 40 is used in:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
  • Peptic ulcer disease (gastric & duodenal ulcers)
  • Erosive esophagitis
  • Zollinger–Ellison syndrome
  • Prevention and treatment of stress ulcers in critically ill patients
  • Upper GI bleeding management

Dosage & Administration

  • Administered via intravenous injection or infusion
  • Common adult dose: 40 mg once daily (may vary based on condition)
  • Switch to oral therapy as soon as clinically appropriate
